Table of Contents
How does it work?
If you go during a busy time of the day there will most likely be a queue, so you might have to wait a while before getting a seat. However, usually it doesn’t take such long time even though there’s a long queue.
When you’re first in line and there’s a seat available, you go to the cashier and get a clipboard with a number of the seat where you’re going to eat. You go find your number, sit down, and start to order your food.
How to order the sushi
In front of your seat there’s a touchscreen where you order your food. There are several styles of sushi to choose from, as well as different kinds of noodle soups, side dishes, desserts, and drinks.
You can order three dishes at the same time, and the dishes will come up to your seat with the sushi train when ready.
You take your plates from the conveyor belt, and tap the button on the screen to notify that you’ve got your plates. The sushi train will then go back into the kitchen, so make sure that you have taken everything before pushing the button on the screen.
If you order drinks, the staff will bring it for you.
More information about your seat
Above you there are both glasses and small bowls for the soy sauce. The soy sauce you’ll find in bottle in front of you, as well as small packages of wasabi and a sweet soy sauce. The ginger you’ll find in the box in between the chopsticks and the wasabi packages.
There’s also a tap with hot water and a jar with matcha powder so you can get a glass of hot water or matcha tea with your food for free.
How to pay
When you’re satisfied and want to pay, you complete your order on the touchscreen. Before checking out you can view what you have ordered, and how much it’s going to cost.
You click the check out button and go to the casher with your clipboard to pay for your food and drinks. It’s very easy, and if you have any question you can just ask the staff.
Is the menu in English?
Yes, it’s possible to change the menu on the touchscreen to English. If you don’t understand how to do it, just as the staff for help.
It’s also possible to have the menu in Chinese or Korean.
How much does it cost?
It’s very cheap considering that it’s so good and fresh. The prices vary depending on what you want to get, but the standard price for two pieces of sushi/rolls is 108 yen (less than 1 euro).
Is the food good at Genki Sushi?
It’s super delicious, so you have to taste it when you’re in Japan. There are so many different kinds of things to order from the menu, and everything I’ve tasted has been fresh and yummy.
Some of my favorite things to order at Genki Sushi is shrimp with green onion & chili oil, seared salmon with pepper mayo, rolls with shrimp and mayo, tuna / albacore tuna, and the custard pudding for dessert.
It’s a must to visit Genki Sushi at least once!
More about Genki Sushi in Japan
The history of Genki Sushi began in 1968 when the 24 year old Japanese sushi chef Fumio Saito created the concept of Kaiten Sushi. A concept of serving traditional sushi in a modern and effective way using conveyor belts.
This new concept became very popular in Japan, and more restaurants opened up across the country.
It was in 1990 that Genki Sushi Co. LTD was established, and it quickly became popular for its fresh and delicious sushi.
The vision of Genki Sushi is to improve the quality of every plate they serve. They always try to improve the speed of delivering the food, the taste and freshness of the sushi, as well as the service and atmosphere in the restaurant.

Information about the Genki Sushi games
When you’re at one of the Genki Sushi restaurants sometimes there comes up a free sushi roulette game on your screen. If you want to play you click “start”, if not just click “end”.
If you win the staff will bring you a Genki Sushi coin that you can use in one of their toy machines, where you can get some cute Japanese souvenirs.
It’s totally random if you win or not, but it’s a fun feature that they have at Genki Sushi!
