To produce the drink with mahua (such as the Chhattisgarh) they use the flowers from the Mahua tree – which can also be used in traditional medicine.

Chaach

Chaach, also known as Majige, Tak, and Moru is a buttermilk drink that’s perfect to drink on a warm summers day.

It’s a slightly sour drink with a unique flavor. Punjab Buttermilk and Lassi are the most famous drinks with this type of buttermilk.

Lassi

When it comes to indian drinks, this is no doubt one of my favorites.

Lassi is a yoghurt-based drink that originates in the Punjab region of India. It’s a fresh and cooling drink made with yoghurt and different kinds of fruits. Plain lassi, banana lassi, and mango lassi are three of the most popular variations of this drink.

Lassi is a popular drink to have with Indian food.

Kosna

Kosna is a traditional rice beer that’s also known under the names Chhang, Chuak, and Sonti. It’s one of the Indian drinks that’s popular all over the country.

In the tribal regions they used to drink this beverage during traditional festivals.

Masala Chai

Tea is in general loved all over India. One of the most popular teas to drink is the Masala Chai. It’s a black tea mixed with various Indian herbs and spices such as cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, and black peppercorn.

They mix this herbal spiced tea with milk to make the famous Masala Chai tea.

Shikanji

Shikanji is a type of lemonade that comes from the Punjab region in the northern part of the country.

It’s made of lemon or lime juice, ginger juice, ice, and water. Some recipes also include salt, saffron and cumin into the drink.

Shikanji is served ice cold often with mint leaves and some fresh fruits. It’s simply delicious!

Feni

This is an Indian drink that’s produced in Goa. It’s a type of liquor distilled from the fermented juice of cashew fruits. The alcohol content is high and is usually between 42-45%.

Thandai

This drink is also known under the name Bhang and is made from milk and dried fruits. It’s the god Shiva’s favorite drink and is also a favorite in Maha and Shivratri.

Thandai is a delicious and healthy drink that’s a must to taste while you’re in beautiful India!

Solkadhi

Solkadhi is a popular drink in Goa and the Maharashtra’s coastal region. It’s usually drunk when eating rice or after a meal.

It’s made of coconut milk and kokum. It’s the dried skin of the fruit kokum that gives this drink its deep purple color that’s full of antioxidants.

This Indian drink is known for its digestive, refreshing, cleansing and cooling properties.

Kokum Sherbet

This is another indian drink that contains the fruit kokum. It’s popular in the Maharashtra state and is common to drink during the hot summer months in India.

It’s known for being a fresh drink with digestive properties. Popular among both locals and tourists!

Jal Jeera

Jal Jeera is one of the most popular drinks during summer in India. It’s a type of lemonade that’s mixed with jaljira powder.

The jaljira powder usually consists of cumin, ginger, black pepper, mint, salt, fruit powder, and chili powder. It’s sometimes served as an appetizer, but most commonly as a refreshing drink.
