In a couple of selected jewelry shops in Malta, you can find these beautiful pieces of jewelry. The art of filigree takes lots of patience since it’s thin gold or silver threads that need to be twisted together to create these magical patterns and designs.

Marsaxlokk Market Finds

If you happen to be in Malta on a Sunday I can highly recommend you to visit the market in Marsaxlokk. This is a great way to spend a Sunday just strolling around and shop local products.

I can recommend checking out the beeswax products that they sell. I bought a couple of jars myself, and I use it for dry spots on my skin as well as when my lips get dry. It’s a really good local product that also very cheap to buy!

Cactus Liquor

When traveling around the countryside of Malta you’ll see several cactuses with its prickly fruit. This fruit is delicious but full of hard seeds – so they’re quite hard to eat. If you want to be careful about your teeth I would rather recommend buying a liquor made from this fruit.

It’s a mild liquor between 20-25%, that you can drink before or after your meal. The most traditional one is called ”Bajtra” from the brand Zeppi’s.

You can buy this product in almost every supermarket, as well in the duty-free shop at the airport.

Gozo cheese (ġbejna)

Malta’s sister island Gozo is a great producer of cheese. Here you can buy this delicious round cheese that’s made from unpasteurized sheep’s- or goat’s milk.

You can buy in plain or with local flavors added. If you want to buy it with some kind of flavor I would recommend you to try the garlic, sun-dried tomato, or chili pepper cheese.

You can eat it as it is, have it in your salad, or drizzle it with some delicious olive oil – yummy!

Bus Toy – One of the most popular Malta souvenirs for kids!

Not too long ago Malta’s local transportation consisted of these cute colorful buses. They’re very popular among tourists, but not locals, since they’re small, uncomfortable and also not so good for the environment.

Today you can buy miniature buses that make great Malta souvenirs for kids. Or why not as a decorative item that you can have in your home?

Pottery & Ceramics

If you’re looking for a souvenir that will make your home prettier, I can recommend shopping for some local pottery or ceramics. Maltese pottery has beautiful Mediterranean colors, patterns, and designs and will make a great addition to your home.

Most pottery and ceramics you find on the island is hand-made and designed by the local artists. It’s a nice Malta souvenir to buy for yourself or someone you love.
