Looking for things to do in Singapore? Singapore is one of my favorite cities in Asia since there are so many beautiful things to see and fun things to do.
Singapore is a city that offers something for everyone, whether you’re looking for culture, beautiful scenery, shopping, or dining experiences. Here are my best tips of things to do in Singapore as a tourist:

Stroll around Marina Bay
Marina Bay is one of the biggest attractions in the city and is a place that you just have to add to your bucket list of things to do in Singapore.
This place is home to some of the city’s most iconic attractions, hotels, and skyscrapers – including the Merlion, Marina Bay Sands, ArtScience Museum, and Helix Bridge.

Eat food at a Hawker Center
You will never be hungry in a city like Singapore, since it offers one of the most diverse cuisines in the world.
In the city’s various Hawker Centers you’ll find local favorites like Hainanese Chicken Rice, Dim Sum, and the national dish Nasi Lemak. You can eat lots of delicious food and a meal shouldn’t cost more than 15 euro.
Maxwell Food Center and Telok Ayer Market are two popular food markets in the city.

Explore Gardens by the Bay
Gardens by the Bay is, in my opinion, one of the coolest attractions in the city. This landmark is definitely one of the best things to do in Singapore as it offers both cool architecture, beautiful scenery, great restaurants, a nice rooftop bar, and an impressive show of both music and lights.
Gardens by the Bay is a place that’s nice to visit both during the day and later during the evening to see the famous show.
I can recommend bringing a blanket, some food and drinks and sit on the lawn to enjoy the show that starts at 19.45 every night.

Stroll around in Chinatown
Chinatown is a lovely place for a stroll with its colorful Peranakan houses and historical attractions.
This area is divided into four main areas; Crete Ayer, Telok Ayer, Tanjong Pagar and Bukit Pasoh. However, most of the attractions are located around Smith Street and Pagoda Street.
In addition to well-preserved houses and sacred sites such as Thian Hock Keng, Sri Mariamman Hindu Temple and James Mosque, this is also a heaven for those who love to eat local food.

Go to MacRitchie Reservoir Park
If you’re looking for an adventure out in the wild then I can recommend visiting MacRitchie Reservoir Park. The highlight of this park is the Treetop Walk which is a suspension bridge above the tree tops.
There are also several nice areas where you can go for a walk to enjoy the wonderful surroundings and see the macaques. They are very curious monkeys, so hold on to your valuables incase they would try to steal something from you.

See the city from above
The Singapore Flyer is approximately 165 meters high and is one of the largest ferris wheels in the world.
Because of its height, it offers one of the best views in the city. A ride takes about 30 minutes so there’s plenty of time to take beautiful pictures.

Have fun at Universal Studios Singapore
Universal Studios Singapore is one of the most popular things to do in Singapore with kids. This theme park opened up its doors in 2010 and offers 7 different themed areas with a large selection of carousels inspired by famous movies.
At Universal Studios Singapore, you can enjoy attractions such as the Hollywood Boulevard, the Sci-Fi City with several exciting roller coasters, and the Lost World where you can go for a ride through Jurassic Park.
Universal Studios is a place you don’t want to miss when you’re in Singapore. It’s a fun place for both kids and adults.

Spend a night in Clarke Quay
Clarke Quay is known for its fantastic night life. Here you’ll be met by lively nightclubs, bars, neon lights, and dressed up people.
It was originally a commercial center, but is today a maze of restaurants, bars, and shops. If you’re looking for a place with lively atmosphere during the evenings, Clarke Quay is the perfect place for you.

Enjoy the view from Marina Bay Sands
One of the best views in the city is found at the top of Marina Bay Sands.
This hotel is best known for its rooftop pool with magical views of the city, however the pool is only possible to visit if you’re a hotel guest. However, you can visit their observation deck that offers a beautiful view as well.
It costs around 15 euro for adults and 10 euro for children to go up to the observation deck at the Marina Bay Sands hotel.

See the famous Merlion
The statue of the Merlion is a symbol of Singapore and is one of the biggest attractions in the city. It’s a statue with a head of a lion and a body of a fish.
It’s a popular place for taking pictures with the statue in the foreground and the famous Marina Bay Sands hotel in the background.
Explore Kampong Glam
Kampong Glam is a popular area filled with culture, history and trendy restaurants. Here you can, among other things, have look at a beautiful mosque, shop along Haji Lane, and eat delicious food.
The Indonesian dish Nasi Padang is a local favorite and is popular to eat at the Hjh Maimunah restaurant in this area.
Go shopping at Orchard Road
Orchard Road is Singapore’s main shopping street, and here you’ll find several luxury stores and big shopping malls.
In addition to shopping you will also find several restaurants and cafes where you can take a break from the shopping.

Go on a boat tour inside a shopping mall
One of the most unusual things to do in Singapore is to go on a boat tour inside The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.
The Shoppes is a shopping center filled with shops, cafes and nice restaurants, as well as a river where you can go on a boat tour.
Stroll around in Singapore Botanic Gardens
Singapore Botanic Gardens is one of the oldest gardens in the city and became the first UNESCO World Heritage Site in Singapore.
The garden began its history in 1859 and has over the years become a local favorite. Here you’ll find over 60,000 different plants and orchids, as well as several restaurants and cafes where you can grab something to eat and drink.
One of the most popular places inside the Singapore Botanic Gardens is the National Orchid Garden, which is an incredibly beautiful garden that you simply have to visit.

Explore Little India
Little India is one of the city’s most vibrant areas and here you can have a look at beautiful and colorful architecture, visit temples, go shopping, and eat delicious Indian food.
It’s a nice area in Singapore, so make sure to stop by when you’re in the city.

Visit the National Museum of Singapore
In this museum you can learn more about Singapore’s history and culture that dates back to the 1300s.
Besides the fact that there is much to learn in this museum, the building is also worth visiting for. It’s a beautiful and impressive building in neoclassical architecture.

Drink a Singapore Sling at Raffles Hotel
If you enjoy drinking cocktails, then it’s a must to visit the Raffles Hotel and order a Singapore Sling.
It was at this hotel in the Long Bar that the drink Singapore Sling was invented by the bartender Ngiam Tong Boon in 1915. The Singapore Sling is a mixture of Cointreau, pineapple juice, lime juice, cherry liqueur.

See the colorful houses at Koon Seng Road
If you like to take pictures during your travels, I can recommend visiting Koon Seng Road. This is one of the most beautiful streets in the city and is lined with colorful houses from the 1920s.
It’s no doubt one of the best things to do in Singapore if you like to shoot photos.
Visit the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple
The Buddha Tooth Relic Temple is located in Chinatown and is a beautiful Buddhist temple that’s home to over 300 Buddhist relics from various parts of Asia
Here you’ll also find a tea house and a theater. It’s a place where you can learn more about the Buddhist history, culture, and art.

Have a beach day at St. John’s Island
St. John’s Island is located outside Singapore and offers beautiful scenery and nice beaches with soft sand and clear water.
In addition to being an excellent place for sun and swimming, this island is also home to a large number of cats.
If you love cats then this is an island for you, but if you’re allergic to cats, then it might be good to consider visiting some of the nearby islands instead.

Admire the art at National Gallery Singapore
The National Gallery Singapore is home to the largest collection of modern art in Southeast Asia. The museum is located inside the City Hall and the former Supreme Court, which are two iconic buildings that have played a major role in Singapore’s history.
Inside the museum you can see over 8,000 different artworks from the 19th century to the present, making it one of the world’s largest and most impressive museums with Southeast Asian art.
