In June this year, Alex and I traveled back to Greece to explore Skyros. We stayed at a beautiful hotel called Dioni Hotel, located a bit outside the main town, Skyros Town. We stayed there for 3 nights and had such a great time at the hotel. The food was good (loved the Greek salad), the breakfast was delicious as well, and the atmosphere was just so relaxed.

Our suite was very nice with a beautiful view of the hotel garden/pool and we could also see a glimpse of the ocean. I must give a big plus for the family running the hotel, they’re all so kind.

Down below you can read more about my stay at Dioni Hotel Skyros!

Here’s my review of Dioni Hotel Skyros, Greece:

Room Standard (2-Storey Apartment)

Alex and I stayed in a 2-Storey apartment with a nice view of the pool/garden. It’s a beautiful apartment with Skyrian decor such as amazing wood crafting details. The bed upstairs was very comfortable with fluffy/soft pillows, and there was also a lot of space in the apartment. On the first floor, you’ll find a kitchenette equipped with hobs, kitchenware, kitchen-sink and a fridge. There’s also a bathroom with fresh towels and free toiletries for you to use. In the living room (also on the first floor) there are couches, a TV, and a desk. From the living room, you have access to a big terrace with chairs and a table, which is a great spot to relax at during the evenings.

It’s a great apartment, perfect for families or couples that want a more luxurious stay on the island. I’ve also checked out the other rooms that are a bit cheaper, and I must say that they’re big and nice as well with a terrace.

Outside the room

I actually spent the most of my time outside the room (if you don’t count the hours when I was asleep), and especially by their pool haha. The pool at Dioni Hotel has salt water, which I think is a really nice touch! I’ve never stayed in a hotel with a saltwater pool before, so that’s something that I thought was pretty cool.

The reception/lobby area is also nice with beautiful (and homemade) decor. It’s also by the pool you’ll find the snack bar where you can enjoy a delicious Greek salad (with veggies from their own garden) and something cooling to drink. The apartments and hotel rooms are surrounded by lush nature with lots of beautiful flowers, so a stroll around the hotel garden is a must.

Snack Bar

In their snack bar, they offer something light for you to enjoy during the days. Here you can have club sandwiches and salads along with refreshing drinks of your choice. I tried the Greek salad, and it was delicious. The veggies in the salad came from their garden behind the hotel, and even the olive oil is made by their family.

Staff

I have so many nice things to say about the people who run the hotel. It’s a lovely Greek family that is very hospital, welcoming and friendly towards their guests. They treat you more like family than a hotel guest, which I really appreciated. We got to stroll around in their garden where they have all their fruits/veggies and we also got to meet the grandparents who cooked us fried zucchini flowers.

We even got our hands full of fresh fruit before leaving for the airport haha – Once again, thanks grandma at Hotel Dioni! :)

WiFi

There’s free WiFi in the bar/snack bar and in the reception. Today, Dioni Hotel doesn’t have WiFi in the rooms, but that’s something they’re planning to do in the near future. I must say that I kinda liked being unconnected the biggest part of my stay, since I think it’s good to be unconnected from social media at times. So I must say that the lack of WiFi made our stay even more relaxing.

Location

Dioni is located in Aspous Village, about a 5-minute drive from Skyros Town. It’s a nice and relaxing area with closeness to a less touristy beach. Since it’s best to explore the island by car, there’s no problem that Dioni Hotel is located a bit outside of the capital of the island. Oh yeah, the hotel also offers free parking!
