During our recent trip to Singapore, we had dinner in a cable car during sunset. We did this experience together with KKday, and I must say that it was a really cool activity! Even though it was fun, it wasn’t as good as I hoped it to be since I had higher expectations of this Singapore experience.

Down below you can read more about my experience of the Singapore Cable Car and Sky Dinner, what to expect and why I got a bit disappointed.

What to expect

100 meters above ground is where you’ll have your dinner in a private cable car while the sun sets. Choose between a romantic and luxury western dinner or a more simple Singaporean-style one and enjoy your food to some scenic views over Singapore on the Mount Faber Line. You’ll glide up over the HarbourFront Centre and over the island resort of Sentosa.

You’ll ride on the cable car line 3 times, so you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy your food, view, and company!

Highlights

  • Enjoy Singapore’s cityscape and harbor views
  • Dine 100 meters above sea level
  • Enjoy a luxury western dinner or a Singaporean-style dinner
  • Sit back and relax during a 90-minute ride (plenty of time to take photos)

How was the dinner?

We did the Singaporean-dinner, which consisted of Traditional Hainanese chicken rice, wok-fried chili crab meat with mini mantou, dim sum crispy prawn wanton, Malay style Tahu Goreng with peanut sauce, Keropok prawn and fish crackers, rainbow cake, and Bandung. We actually forgot to mention that we didn’t like meat, so we just tried some of the dishes.

When we hopped into our cable car the dinner was set, and we had a fake candle and some romantic music playing. It was a great view from up there, but I didn’t like the food that much. The food was actually pretty cold (and it wasn’t because we were taking photos before eating), and there was meat in it, so if I was a meat-eater I still wouldn’t eat it because you can get sick. The shrimp chips were good though, and also the rainbow cake!

We were actually supposed to do the luxurious western dinner, but since that one wasn’t avaliable, we decided to try the Singaporean dinner instead. I think that the western one looked better, and I really hope that the food is warmer than the one that we had.

I must also mention that our dinner didn’t look like the pictures on the booking site. In the pictures, it looks more luxurious with a nice table setting.  We didn’t get real forks and knives with a nice napkin, we got weak plastic cutlery in a plastic package. In the pictures of the experience, they also have fresh coconuts and a glass with ice to their drinks, we couldn’t choose to have the coconuts and we just got two small bottles of water with no glasses and no ice.

How to get there

It doesn’t cost much to ride with taxis in Singapore, especially if you use Uber or Grab.

Summary of my experience of Singapore Cable Car and Sky Dinner:

Overall we had a nice experience of the Singapore Cable Car and Sky Dinner. I must admit that it was a cool experience, but there was a couple of things that could have been improved. The food was quite cold, and I hope that it was just us who got it that way since you can get sick from eating cold meat.

I also think the Singapore Cable Car and Sky Dinner was a bit pricey for what you get, so unfortunately, I don’t think that I can recommend this experience unless they improve their food and lower their price. The ride was nice though, so I can still recommend you to go there for a ride on the cable car if that’s your thing – bring some snacks! ;)
