One of the best places to buy silk is in Hoi An and also in Van Phuc (a silk village near Hanoi). 

Handmade Vietnamese embroidery

Embroidery is an art that has been passed down from ages in Vietnam. Here they often use Chinese techniques, and to become an embroidery master it can take 8 to 10 years. If you ever visit Sa Pa, you can buy great embroidered clothes, scarfs, bags and purses from the different villages of the valley.

In Sa Pa, you can also see how they handmade embroidery by the main square during the evening market!

Guoc Moc

Guoc Moc is a traditional wooden clogs that are used by both males and females in Vietnam. Years ago, the women of Vietnam used to wear these together clogs together with the traditional Ao Dai dress. Today, the clogs are not that popular among the locals – but they can still be found in many stores around the country. 

Musical Instruments

The handmade musical instruments are also a favorite souvenir in Vietnam. Here you can buy instruments like; bamboo flutes and mini t’rungs. These instruments make sweet tones and will remember you of Vietnam every time you’re making music.

The price for t’rung’s usually ranging from VND 300,000 to VND 1,000,000 and a simple bamboo flute cost around VND 10,000.

The hand fans in Vietnam is usually made of paper and a bamboo frame. This is one of the souvenirs that are frequently used by the locals to cool off. These hand fans have played a major role in the country’s rich culture, and can today be seen in traditional Vietnamese dance.
