Blue nankeen is a style of Chinese fabric that originated on the Silk Road in Shanghai, around 3000 years ago. Blue nankeen is made of cotton with two-toned hand-printed designs. From this fabric, they make both clothing and household linens such as tablecloths, drapes, and bed linen etc.

Moon Cake – One of my favorite China souvenirs!
One of my favorite things to do while in China is to eat mooncakes. I know, they’re full of calories but when traveling you simply have to try some local snacks and sweets.
Mooncakes are round pastries with a thick filling made from red bean or lotus seed paste. They can be bought all year round in certain shops, but almost everywhere during the Mid-Autumn Festival – one of the most important festivals in China.
If you wonder what to buy in China for a family member or friend, then this is one of the best China souvenirs to buy.

Jade
All over China, you’ll find both jewelry and decorative items made out of the beautiful green stone Jade. In old Chinese culture, Jade was associated with power and nobility.
If you want to buy something small to bring back home, then I can recommend buying a beautiful necklace or ring made of Jade.
Just be careful where you buy jade products in China since there are many fake ones out on the market. In the northwestern part of China they make most products of Jade, so there it might be easier to find the real deal.
Chinese tea
If you want to buy a traditional Chinese souvenir, then I can recommend buying some Chinese tea.
Tea is a big part of the Chinese culture and the Chinese people’s lives. The locals do not only drink tea at night or when feeling cold, but they also drink tea when eating their food. According to many locals, drinking tea with or after your meal is an aid to faster digestion.
A couple of years ago I would have thought that it would be crazy to drink hot tea to a meal, but after having a traditional Chinese dinner with some local friends, I must say that I really liked drinking hot tea to the food.
However, even though you buy tea in China, you don’t have to drink it when eating dinner back home. It’s just as good to drink during breakfast or at night before going to bed.

Tea is a form of art in China, and that’s why a Chinese tea set with local tea makes such a great gift to yourself or someone you love.
