If you’re looking for a good place for shopping, then I can recommend visiting the Pavilion Shopping Mall.

Inside the Pavilion Shopping Mall you’ll find a wide range of shopping that varies from international stores to luxury brands. In addition, there’s also a good selection of restaurants and cafes in different price ranges.

This is one of the best things to do in Kuala Lumpur when it rains.

Visit Sri Mahamariamman

This temple is known for being one of the oldest Hindu temples in the city and was built during the 19th century. It’s well worth a visit to have a look at the beautiful architecture and colorful sculptures adorning the temple.

Enjoy the view from Menara Kuala Lumpur

If you’re not afraid of heights,  I can recommend to go up in the tower Menara Kuala Lumpur where you have a fantastic view of the city.

It’s no doubt one of the best things to do in Kuala Lumpur among those who like photography. The views are truly magical from up there.

Go to Jalan Alor for street food

If you like to eat local food then you have to visit Jalan Alor. It’s a street lined with several restaurants and food stalls where you can buy delicious food.

Along the street there are plenty of tables and chairs where you can sit down with your food and drinks to people-watch and enjoy the lively atmosphere.

Stroll around at the Central Market

The Central Market is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city. This market was built in 1928 and is located only a short walk from China Town.

Learn about the royal history at Istana Negara

Istana Negara was once the palace where the royals lived, before a new palace was built in 2011.

Since 2011, this palace has worked as a museum where you can learn more about the royal history. Among many other things, you can visit royal rooms, see various royal objects and see the royal guards at the entrance.

Visit Masjid Jamek 

Masjid Jamek is one of the oldest mosques in Kuala Lumpur and is located where the Klang and Gombak rivers meet.

It was opened in 1909 and is today one of the biggest attractions in the city. Tourists are allowed to visit some parts of the mosque if wearing appropriate clothing.

Explore Batu Caves

Batu Caves is one of the most famous places outside Kuala Lumpur and is known for its huge golden statue and long rainbow stair leading up to a cave.

This is a sacred place among Hindus, so make sure to show respect when visiting. Also, be careful with your valuables since there are many monkeys who eagerly waits to steal everything they think is food.

Eat Nasi Lemak

When it comes to Malaysian food, you have to taste the national dish Nasi Lemak. It’s a delicious dish made of rice in coconut milk served together with various side dishes.

Traditionally, this dish is wrapped in banana leaves with cucumber slices, fried anchovies, roasted peanuts, hard boiled eggs and a spicy sambal sauce.

A more filling version of this dish is served with fried chicken, beef, or squid in chili.

Walk on the hanging bridges in KL Forest Eco Park

In the middle of central Kuala Lumpur is one of the world’s oldest rainforests. Here you can stroll around and enjoy the beautiful nature and walk across hanging bridges up among the tree tops

This is no doubt one of the best things to do in Kuala Lumpur with kids. Just make sure to bring mosquito repellent, as there are lots of mosquitoes in this place.

Go partying at the Golden Triangle

In the Golden Triangle you will find a great selection of nightclubs, bars, restaurants and hotels. There are many fun streets in this area, but it’s around the street Jalan P. Ramlee where most things happen.

You will also find a big shopping mall in the Golden Triangle if you want to buy a fancy outfit for a night out on town.

Stroll around in KLCC Park

When you visit Petronas Twin Towers, I can also recommend visiting the KLCC Park which is right next door. It’s a lovely park where locals like to go exercising, jogging and walking.

Inside the park you will also find a nice fountain with a fun water show twice a day.

Explore the Thean Hou temple

Thean Hou is one of the oldest and largest Buddhist temples in Southeast Asia and dates back to 1894.

The temple is dedicated to the goddess Tian Hou who is said to protect fishermen. Inside the temple there is also a shrine where many people come to worship Guan Yin, the goddess of mercy.

Have a drink at a rooftop bar

When you’re in a modern city like Kuala Lumpur, it’s always nice to visit a rooftop bar and have a drink while enjoy the city view.

Sky Bar in Traders Hotel and Heli Lounge Bar are two popular rooftop bars in Kuala Lumpur that I can recommend you to visit. The views are fantastic and the drinks are delicious.

Have fun at Crackhouse Comedy Club

If you’re looking for a good laugh, then you have visit Crackhouse Comedy Club. It’s a comedy club with fun shows every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

It does not cost much to visit this place and the performances are also in English.

Take a cooking class

If you like to cook then I can recommend taking a cooking class. A cooking class is both educational and fun if you like Malaysian food.

What’s so fun about a cooking class is that you can bring your skills back home and invite loved ones over for a delicious homemade Malaysian dinner.

If you feel like a day out in the wild then I recommend booking a guided tour where you get to see fireflies on the Selangor River and wild silver leaf monkeys at Bukit Melawati.

It’s an awesome experience that you do not want to miss if you love animals and nature.

Explore Kampung Baru

In Kampung Baru you can see old Malaysian wooden houses and both goats and chickens strolling around the streets.

This is a fun area to explore as you get to see a more rural side of the city. In this area there are also several markets and food stalls where you can sample delicious food and drinks.

Visit the National Museum of Malaysia

The National Museum in Kuala Lumpur is one of Malaysia’s most important museums. It’s a three-story museum with several interesting collections of Malaysian culture and heritage.

You can see everything from traditional weapons and wedding gowns to old vehicles and various traditional buildings. If you like going to museums during your travels, then this is an attraction you do not want to miss during your stay in the city.
