Cappadocia pottery

If you’re like me and love simple and beautiful pottery, then you’re going to love the clay pottery in Cappadocia. In the town of Avanos you can go shopping for these products. They’re made from the red clay that’s found along the Red River, which is one of the longest rivers in Turkey.

Around this town you’ll find several family run potteries where you can see how the pottery is made and sometimes give it a go yourself. However, the earthenware is beautiful and is a must to check out if you’re heading to Cappadocia during your trip in Turkey.

This is no doubt one of my favorite souvenirs in Turkey!

Nargile pipes / shisha

I’m not a smoker myself, so this is not a Turkish souvenir that I would buy. However, it’s still one of the most popular things to buy in Turkey.

In the various shops and markets around Turkey you’ll find plenty of nargile pipes (shisha) in various sizes, colors, and designs.

Many people buy them as decorations, but they can be used for smoking as well. You can also buy different kinds of exotic fruit flavors for the nargile pipe if you want to use it at home.
