♡ My stay at Palazzo Castri was complimentary, but as always, all words are my own ♡
During our road trip in Italy last month, we were invited to stay at Palazzo Castri in central Florence. We stayed there for two nights and had a great time at their hotel. The service was great, the room was beautiful and the breakfast was the best hotel breakfast that I’ve ever had.
Down below you can read more about my experience of Palazzo Castri!

Room Standard (Superior Room)
We had a superior room when we stayed at Palazzo Castri. The superior room was a big room with a short hallway that leads to the bedroom and bathroom. The bedroom was quite big and offered comfortable beds and pillows that were perfect for a good night sleep. The interior in the superior room was modern and luxurious but homey, and the colorful art on the walls was a nice touch. From our bedroom, we had a nice view of the hotel outdoor area and also the city where we could spot the famous Duomo di Florence.
The bathroom was spacious, clean, and offered everything you needed for your stay in Florence. They had free shampoo, shower gel, and soap. and the best part was that all the toiletries are vegan and cruelty-free, which is a really big plus to me.
This is what you get when booking a Superior Room:
- Comfortable bed
- Comfortable pillows
- City View
- Bathrobes
- Slippers
- Bathroom with shower
- Daily cleaning
- Free toiletries (Vegan & Cruelty-Free)
- Hairdryer
- Free WiFi
- TV
- Air-conditioning
- Desk + chairs
- Iron and ironing board
- Kettle with coffee/tea
- Laptop safe
- Delicious breakfast buffet
Breakfast
Palazzo Castri’s breakfast is the best hotel breakfast that I’ve ever had. Sundried tomatoes, freshly baked whole grain bread, tapenade, natural yogurt with dried plums and walnuts, and delicious cappuccino. I must say that I give this breakfast 10 out of 10, just because I love when you have many options to choose from, and also that they had many of my favorite things for breakfast (like the sundried tomatoes, walnuts, cappuccino, and tapenade!!).
This hotel is worth staying at just for the breakfast. I’m still longing to go back and eat more haha!
What to choose from the breakfast buffet:
- Freshly baked bread (different kinds)
- Cold cuts
- Cheeses
- Tapenade
- Sundried tomatoes
- Filled tomatoes (also really good)
- Fresh fruit
- Yogurt (different flavors)
- Cereals, nuts, and dried fruits
- Bacon & Eggs
- Grilled Veggies
- Fresh Veggies
- Marmalade
- Cookies/cakes/pastries
- Coffée (black coffée, cappuccino, café latte and more)
- Tea
- Fresh juice (orange, pineapple & grapefruit)
Outside the room
Palazzo Castri is a beautiful boutique hotel with the traditional, modern, and luxurious decor. Beyond the reception on the ground floor, you’ll find a bar, the breakfast room, a nice garden with pool, tables, and lounge chairs, and also the gym and hotel spa. The garden is a lovely place to spend a couple of hours to enjoy the sun and the afternoon tea that the hotel offers every day from 4 to 5 pm. The hotel bar is a nice place to enjoy a refreshing drink and to have a look in one of te many table books (some with great photos of Florence).
Spa
Palazzo Castri’s spa is a must to visit during your stay, so make sure to make a reservation in the reception when you arrive at the hotel. The spa offers an indoor/outdoor pool with hydromassage, a Finnish sauna, a Turkish bath, a ”hot and cold” shower (which is good for your blood circulation), and also a relaxation area with herbal teas and cold citrus water.
My experience of the spa at Palazzo Castri was so great that Alex and I went back there 2 times during our two nights in Florence.
Staff
The staff was very welcoming and service minded when we arrived at the hotel. They told us everything we needed to know during our stay and let us know that we could ask anytime if we had any questions. They helped us up with our bags to the hotel room and wished us a nice stay, which was very nice of them.
Everytime that we walked pass the reception, there was always someone who wished us a nice day.
Afternoon Tea
Every day from 16.00 to 17.00 Palazzo Castri have Afternoon Tea in their garden. Here they offer cakes, different kinds of pastries and of course tea. The two days that we had afternoon tea everything was delicious. I still long to go back and sit there and relax while eating chocolate cookies and sipping on my cup of tea with lemon! So yummy!
WiFi
The WiFi worked well on the ground floor by the reception and breakfast area, but not so well in our bedroom on the second floor. We also had our WiFi-Hotspot with us, and it didn’t work that well either, so maybe we just had some bad luck during our days in the city. For Alex and me, it’s important with stable WiFi while traveling, since we’re working on our computers. But, if you’re just going on vacation, I don’t think that would be a big problem for you since you’ll have so many other things to do before sitting in the hotel with your phone/laptop.
Florence is such a beautiful place to explore, and when you’re not out doing sightseeing, you’ll be having afternoon tea, eating breakfast in peace and quiet, and also relaxing at the hotel spa. So who needs WiFi when you have all that?
Location
Palazzo Castri is located right in the center of town, with a walking distance from both the train station and Duomo di Florence. We never used a taxi or public transport while we were in town since it’s such a nice place to walk around in.
Nearby you’ll also find good restaurants, sandwich shops (some of the most delicious sandwiched I’ve ever eaten), Gelato, and several other attractions.
Duomo di Florence lies just 5 minutes away by foot!
And you’ll find gelato around every corner!
Summary of my stay at Palazzo Castri
I had a great experience staying at Palazzo Castri in Florence. Alex and I felt welcomed as soon as we arrived at the hotel, and the room was beautiful. I loved that they had a gym and spa to get some extra relaxation and that they offered afternoon tea every day. And don’t forget about the breakfast, ahh what I miss it. I’m not exaggerating when I’m saying that it was the best hotel breakfast that I’ve had so far!
I can highly recommend you to stay at this place when you’re in Florence. I promise you that you won’t be disappointed :)
